CHUCHUHUASI
Scientifically classified as Maytenus laevis, it is a majestic tree that graces the Amazon rainforest with its towering presence and lush foliage. Its sturdy trunk and lush green leaves symbolise resilience and vitality, reflecting the rich biodiversity of the rainforest ecosystem. Chuchuhuasi has been revered by indigenous communities for centuries for its powerful medicinal properties and spiritual significance. Valued for its enduring effectiveness, Chuchuhuasi plays a key role in herbal remedies and is particularly renowned for alleviating the discomforts of arthritis and rheumatism-related symptoms. Key constituents: alkaloids – spermidine, sesquiterpenes, organic acids, saponins, quinones, triterpenes, catechins, isoflavonoids – evoniatine. One of the active compounds is proteokinase C. It has aphrodisiac properties (increases adrenaline levels). The drink prepared from Chuchuhuasi has a sweet hazelnut flavour and is often drunk as a treat during long journeys.

TRADITIONAL USE IN PERUVIAN FOLK MEDICINE FOR:

Dosage: by weight. Pour 1–2 teaspoons of the bark into approximately 700–800 ml of cold water (much of the water evaporates during boiling) and boil from the point of boiling over a low heat for 20 minutes, then strain. Drink in three equal doses throughout the day, preferably half an hour before a meal. Stir the mixture before use!

The South American Indians named this tree very aptly - Chuchuhuasi means "corrected back".
However, local people in the Amazon basin use a decoction of Chuchuhuasi bark as a tonic. Modern research into this 30-meter tree (Maytenus laevis) and its positive effects on our body is still not over.
The drink prepared from Chuchuhuasi has a sweet, hazelnut flavor and is often drunk as a treat during long refreshments.
Dosage: By weight. Pour 1-2 teaspoons of the bark in about 700-800 ml of cold water (a lot of water evaporates by boiling) and from a boiling point boil on low heat for 20 minutes and drain. Drink during the day in three equal doses, preferably half an hour before meals.
